New Enrollment

The Learning Express is continuing to take referrals for regular education slots for the 2016-2017 school year. We are free of charge to any family living inside the Altoona Area School District, and slots are awarded on a first come, first served basis. Call the main office to register. If you are a new parent, please call to reserve your child's spot as soon as possible. Children must be 3 years old by 9/30/16 to attend for the 2016-17 school year. We require a birth certificate and proof of address to enroll. Early Intervention slots are available year round for children with possible delays or disabilities who are turning three.

Developmental Services Provided by the Learning Express:
The Learning Express provides itinerant special services to children in a variety of natural settings, including private preschools, daycare centers, Pre-K Counts classrooms, Head Start Centers, and private childcare provider's homes, as well as in the child's own home. Services range from weekly to monthly to occasional services, depending on the severity of the child's delays and the type of program in which they are currently enrolled. Developmental teachers are able to provide consultative services in collaboration with the child's regular education teacher, as well as direct services. Our mission is to provide services that allow children to remain in the natural setting that the parent has already selected for their child.

Evaluation Services: The Learning Express provides developmental assessments that determine eligibility for Early Intervention Preschool programming. Evaluations include developmental standardized testing, speech/language testing, occupational and physical therapy assessments, and vision/hearing screening or assessments. Behavioral ratings scales are also used in conjunction with developmental testing to determine whether behavioral issues are impacting student learning.
