At AASD Learning Express we feel it’s important for our students and families to have information and access to resources in the community. The community offers many opportunities for children to engage with their peers – such as going to the library, playing at a local park, or participating in an activity day at a local craft store. Here are some community programs that offer family assistance:

Pennsylvania offers assistance and other services to people and families in need. You can submit applications and renewals at your local county assistance office drop box or online using COMPASS. Caseworkers are available at the county assistance office to help you and answer your questions in person or over the phone, if the office is closed to the public.

Weatherization

The Blair County Community Action Program (BCCAP) Services Blair County with residential weatherization services for low-income individuals.

Pediatric Home Connection (birth-21 years)

Taking care of medically fragile children is not an easy job. Pediatric Home Connection provides skilled nursing care to technologically dependent children so that parents can sleep, work, or go to school.
 

Healing Patch (preschool-18 years)

Home Nursing Agency’s Healing Patch is a peer support program designed specifically for children and their families who have suffered the loss of a loved one, such as a parent, sibling, grandparent, or close family member. 
 

Behavioral Health Care (school-age)

Counseling, education, and other services are critical when facing life’s challenges. Services can provide an alternative to traditional inpatient services, and may include therapy, education for life management, stress reduction education, and medication management.
